Romantic LGBTQ+ wedding in Italy

LGBTQ+ destination wedding

This LGBTQ destination wedding was the most extraordinary event I have ever photographed! Two beautiful brides got married in the woodland of a magnificent Italian Estate. Flowers scatter everywhere, and the guests sit on hay bales. The food was exquisite, the weather perfect, and the Venetian residence spectacular. Such a romantic wedding.

The wedding venue in Italy

Frassanelle in Veneto, Italy, is the ancient residence of the Count Papafava of Carraresi. Only about one hour from Venice, this historical estate is surrounded by breathtaking woodland and cultivated farmland. The main farmhouse is decorated with original antique features, charming and elegant. So welcoming in a very sophisticated Italian style. Frassanelle is a Venetian Villa of extreme beauty. The large porch area allows the guests to remain dry even if it rains. The estate has 70 hectares of cultivated fields, a 19th-century Park and an ancient 17th-century farmhouse. Also, since 1980 it has had a luxurious golf course. A big thank you to Frassanelle's staff. The atmosphere is elegant and welcoming, peaceful but buzzing with excitement at the same time. The beauty of destination weddings means I can arrive at the location the day before, have the time to get to know everyone, and really feel part of the wedding party. There are so many people I need to thank for making my stay so comfortable. Saba Berhe the housekeeper. Anna Cogo, the event manager at the Frassanelle, Maison Mariage, the wedding stylist, Monica Mazzetto  for the impeccable catering. The fabulous Diane Rossi the wedding celebrant, and Tiziana Tornari for the fantastic harp performance.

The wedding day

I commenced the day photographing Karen, one of the two brides. She was calm, composed and didn't look stressed at all. Her dress was a long romantic gown, elegant but relaxed. Both Karen and Sara were wearing long-laced bridal dresses.

The ceremony was pure magic. All happened in the woodland. Hay bales with soft white cushions for the guests and real rose petals everywhere. The harp music accompanied the ceremony. The lovely Diane, the wedding celebrant, made everyone cry with her personal and very emotional script. The canapé and champagne were served in the courtyard. Dinner was alfresco at the Villa Bencontenta, a 17th-century Venetian farmhouse with a swimming pool. All I can say about this wedding is that it was absolutely unique. I felt like a beautiful, romantic, elegant, alternative, stylish, relaxed, and part of the family. My heart goes to Karen and Sara for letting me be part of a gorgeous dream!
