Modern Vintage Style Wedding Photos at The Star and Garter in London

The Wedding in Putney

Today, I would like to share with you a beautiful wedding I photographed at All Saints Church in Fulham, South London. Situated on the north bank of the River Thames at Putney Bridge, the Anglican Church has been the groom, Tim's family place of worship for generations. So much so that one of the paintings near the entrance has been dedicated to Tim's grandfather. Retired Reverend Canon David Tann who is still actively involved with the Church, celebrated the lovely couple’s wedding, Kate & Tim.The ceremony was very intimate and relaxed, probably because it was a blessing rather than a full wedding, as Kate and Tim had been married in Jamaica just a few weeks before. I particularly like the interior of this Victorian Church. In fact all the family photographs were taken here as the lighting was very atmospheric and uplifting.

The wedding reception

The Star & Garter in Richmond Road was the location of the wedding reception. The bride Kate's initial idea was for the two of them to walk across the bridge after the Church ceremony, but that never happened as it rained all day. Despite the change of plan the couple arrived at the Star & Garter in style with a beautiful vintage taxi. This fashionable gastro pub overlooks the River Thames, and has an exciting contemporary interior design. The beautiful Victorian ballroom on the first floor is rich with natural day light. It is the perfect location for a photographer. Kate's effort in the wedding's styling was admirable, from the sweet candy cart to the polaroid collection stand. Everything had a vintage feel. The grand finale was Kate and Tim's very well choreographed first dance.

Kate's words

Tim and I met 8 years ago in a bar on a night out. I'm an advertising account director and Tim has two jobs - he is a football coach and he also drives for Addison Lee. We met Paola, our wedding photographer at a wedding fair, The Miss Vintage Wedding Fair in Battersea – which is fairly near to our wedding venue. We actually visited the fair just to gain some ideas and inspiration as it was vintage themed and that is the style we had decided to go with for our big day. Paola's work caught our eyes straight away – her portfolio really stood out from the rest and she was very approachable and helpful – from the minute we met, to our follow up meeting to discuss ideas.
