I’ve known Marina for a few years now. She’s Italian and a fellow photographer. They’re two things that we definitely have in common. I also met Alessio before, and was very excited to be their photographer for the engagement photo shoot. Both have a very defined style and I totally love it. For a while we have been talking about a possible location but nothing really grabbed my attention. Until the day my husband came back home from work cycling with some very exciting news. He’d seen the poster announcing the arrival of The Carters Steam Fair to Fulham, and knew that I would love to use it as a location.
The Carters Steam Fair
First thing was to visit the Carters Steam Fair to ask for permission. As a photographer I’m always very conscientious when I have to photograph in places where there might be children. I was delighted to find out that I was granted permission.
After creating a mood board on Pinterest, like I always do for a shoot. It was just a matter of deciding for the day. There was no doubt that it had to be on a weekend, but before the crowds arrived. We were blessed with an amazing sunny day. Marina and Alessio were initially shy, but I specifically explained that the most important element for me was their feeling for each other. I did not want any posing. I just wanted to catch the sparkle of their love.
This is what an engagement photo shoot is all about, to be able to visually represent something that has no words but means the world.
Carters Steam Fair has the flare of the past with the energy of the present. It’s a truly fulfilling experience, particularly for someone like me, who adores the revival of the vintage. Carters Steam Fair is miles away from the tackiness of mediocre general funfair. Their ethos is what makes them so unique.
I’m delighted to announce that Marina and Alessio will soon have their first baby. I thank them with all my heart and wish them a wonderful life together.
